Also the infection can occur through water to which excrements of the infected animals have got, and at non-observance of rules of personal and kitchen hygiene – probably cross infection through ware and kitchen stock. Infection through fruit and vegetables occurs because of contact of products to excrements of animals.

For infection preventive maintenance observance of personal hygiene, carefully to wash fruit and vegetables is necessary, not to neglect thermal processing, to observe a temperature mode at storage of products. The bacterium which has amazed Europe concerns to серотипу 0104: H4. Штамм has been allocated from fabrics of patients in Germany and Denmark.

The infection source is still unknown. Originally was considered that to all fault salad cucumbers from Spain. But the information hasn't proved to be true.
