US president Barack Obama has renewed federal law International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), allocating head of the state powers to regulate trade relations with the countries posing threat for the United States of America.
In the list of the countries, trade relations with which are limited to law IEEPA, are included Iran (since 1979), Myanma (since 1997), Sudan (since 1997), Russia (since 2000, for export prevention высокообогащенного uranium), Zimbabwe (since 2003), Syria (since 2004), Belarus (since 2006, for destruction of democratic institutes), the North Korea (since 2008) and Libya (since 2011, after aggression of the authorities concerning civilians). Prolongation of period of validity IEEPA was technical.
«In case of the expiry of the term of action of the law there will be a considerable threat of national safety, foreign policy and economy of the USA. Law positions <…> should operate after August, 17th, 2011 (term when expires term of the previous decree of the US president about prolongation IEEPA). According to the current legislation I продляю law period of validity for one year», — is told in the text of the decision of the US president which copy it has directed in the evening on August, 12th to the congress.
